About E-Vam Institute Australia

"The Kagyu E-Vam Institute in Melbourne is indeed now one of the most progressive centers in Australia. Offering seminars on 'East-West psychology' and wider social and ecological issues. Despite its contemporary orientation, the Institute seems not to have lost touch with its Tradition."
Excerpt from "History of Buddhism in Australia", Paul Croucher, New South Wales University Press, 1989, page 114.

The Kagyu E-Vam Buddhist Institute (KEBI) maintains a busy program; thrice-weekly group meditation sessions are open to everyone, weekly teachings for the Ngon-dro students who have committed themselves to the Kagyu practices, courses and retreats run frequently throughout the year, and weekly Tibetan language teachings.

One of the major events on the KEBI calendar is the annual Buddhist Summer School. Since its inception in 1984, the week-long seminar has attracted more than 20,000 people to its varied courses. KEBI has hosted a number of distinguished teachers from overseas in the Kagyu and other Buddhist traditions for this event.

An annual Buddhism and Psychotherapy conference, the first of its kind presented in Australia, is also part of the Institute's agenda.

KEBI operates a bookstore with the best range of books on Buddhism in Australia, as well as a comprehensive book and audiocassette library. Ordinary Mind, a high quality 68 page quarterly magazine covering all the Buddhist traditions and associated Western disciplines is published by the Institute, as well as a number of publications by Traleg Kyabgon Rinpoche and other prominent Buddhist teachers on Buddhist philosophy and practice.
