Rinpoche’s House Renovations
The small building that houses Traleg Kyabgon Rinpoche at E-Vam in Chatham, New York has severe dampness, mold, and ventilation problems that are detrimental to Rinpoche’s health. We are therefore planning a major renovation to his quarters, to be completed before Rinpoche’s return in 2012. One of Rinpoche’s Australian students has agreed to come over and complete the project. A skilled and innovative builder, he has been working on Maitripa Contemplative center in Australia for several years and has literally transformed the property there.
The total cost of the building project is estimated at around $30,000.
Matching Fund For All Donations
A generous donor has already offered $10,000 towards the project and is willing to match any donations that are made by other members and friends of E-Vam. The building requires:
- Renovation of walls and ceilings
- Removal of moldy insulation materials
- Refitting windows to make them completely impervious to wasps and bees
- Reinforcing and waterproofing the foundations so that mold and dampness no longer accumulate under the house
- A new hot water service
- A new heating system
- A kitchen needs to be added
We can no longer subject Rinpoche to these serious health hazards at his center. If you would like to help protect Rinpoche’s health and long life by contributing to this important renovation project, please give generously. Your donations will be matched by our generous donor so whatever you give will be doubled!
